Frequently Asked Questions

Question Answer
How often should I get data updates? Each product is updated monthly (see ‘last updated’ timestamp). Postal Codes can change at any time. For example, Canada gets about 5k new postal codes per year and Mexico may get as many as 2k new postal codes each year.
Is FTP or SFTP available? No. At PostalCodeData.com we sell licensed databases at a very low price. We’re able to do this by reducing the amount of processing and features found in higher-end products. If you need enterprise-level data that is available via FTP/SFTP, may we recommend GreatData.com.
What kind of quality should I expect with data from PostalCodeData.com? We believe you will find the quality of this product is similar to other comparably priced products on the market and always up-to-date. It will contain only the imperfections already inherent in the data sold by the postal service (US Postal Service, Canada Post, and Mexican Postal Service).
Why do I see 3-digit ZIP Codes? Why are leading zeros removed from ZIP Code? The leading zeros are actually present; however, some programs suppress them with formatting. To see them in Excel, highlight the ZIP Code column, choose Format / Format Cells / Special / ZIP Code. Opening the file in notepad (which does not add formatting) will also reveal that the leading zeros are present.
